8B Travel Training and ASDA Trip
It’s been a busy couple of weeks in 8B! Not only have we had our travel training trip, where we practised our road safety, we had a trip to Asda, where we used our supermarket knowledge to help other classes in the school fulfil their shopping lists!
During our travel training trip, we walked from school to a nearby bus stop and got on one of the fantastic Bee Network buses. The pupils were great in knowing what bus they needed and how to stop it! We got off at the Interchange in Ashton, where we explored around the different parts of it – from the tram stops to the bus stands. The pupils were able to use the route finder and map to work out what buses we could use to get back to school! We had a fantastic time with the Pure Innovations teams and are so grateful for their help with our travel training.
We then went on a visit to Asda to show off our supermarket knowledge. We started off with a hunt around the store looking for different colours and writing down the matching item. Then we started to investigate prices around the store, comparing differences between branded and own-brand products. This helped us get to the layout of the supermarket because then we completed the shopping lists we gathered from other classes. The pupils were amazing in finding the items, some even asked the staff where they could find items that they were struggling to find. Once our shopping lists were finished, we headed to pay where the class worked in pairs in scanning and packing. When we arrived back at school, we sorted the shopping into the class groups and delivered it to the right classes!
