9S Trip to the Museum of Science and Industry, Manchester

Class 9S had an incredible day exploring the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester. Their adventure began in the Powerhall, where they were amazed by the impressive collection of trains and engines. The pupils also discovered the fascinating history of cotton mills and cotton traders, gaining insight into Manchester’s role as a global hub during the textile boom.

The excitement continued as they took part in hands-on experiments designed to deepen their understanding of the human body and scientific phenomena. Highlights included creating mini-tornados, exploring the science of sound, seeing how their skeleton looks while riding a bike, and examining x-rays—plus so much more! These interactive experiences brought science to life in a fun and engaging way.

Throughout the trip, the children were enthusiastic, curious, and respectful, showing excellent behaviour and teamwork. They were a fantastic representation of Samuel Laycock School, making everyone proud.
