Dystopian Worlds
This week core group 1 started their new English topic ‘Dystopian World’. We are basing our work on The Hunger Games. We have watched clips from the film and talked about what it must be like to live under a dictatorship.
To help us understand Miss McGeoghegan split us into two groups. As we entered the lesson we had to choose a piece of paper. Then we either joined The Capitol or District 12. If we were in District 12 we had to sit in silence and get on with work because we didn’t deserve treats and no one was interested in us. The people in The Capitol got a biscuit, some juice and played games.
District 12 were sad and bored because no one cared about them. The Capitol had fun and there was lots of laughing on their table. When the task finished District 12 pupils got their biscuit and drink and we talked about how differently the groups had felt. We agreed that it had helped us to understand ‘us and them’. We can’t wait to use our latest ideas in our work.
