Medlock Gym

Our sessions at Medlock Gym are back in full swing this half term for our Sports Pathway students. During this next block they’ll be looking to improve their fitness, strength and confidence. It was fantastic to see so much enthusiasm and determination during their first session.

The Year 10 students had their gym induction where they were shown how to use the equipment and our Year 11 students familiarised themselves again with the different machines before getting stuck into their workouts.

Each week students will participate in a structured workout that they have designed themselves, this will include both cardio and weightlifting exercises and they will track their progress over the next 7 weeks. This currently links in with our theory-based lessons around the components of fitness, especially progressive overload and learning about the major muscle groups which they will aim to incorporate into their weekly sessions going forward.

These sessions aren’t just about physical fitness – they’re helping to build focus, resilience and a positive mindset too and we’re looking forward to seeing the progress they make.
