Super Learning Day - Hinduism

Our Super Learning Day on Wednesday 15th October was a wonderful opportunity for the children to explore and celebrate the rich traditions of Hinduism.

Throughout the day, pupils took part in a variety of activities that deepened their understanding of Hindu beliefs, symbols, and festivals.

The children learnt the Hindu Symbol and its meaning; explored Hindu gods and goddesses and discovered how these stories guide Hindu’s today in their daily lives.

They also learnt about worship; some pupils visited our neighbors at the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Temple. These pupils had a tour and an opportunity to appreciate the fantastic, beautiful building and the shrine. At school, the children experienced worship much like Hindus do at home, using the ‘Puja tray’ and joining together as a class to reflect.

A highlight of the day was making and enjoying the traditional sweets; a fun and tasty way for them to experience Hindu culture. The children also learnt about Diwali, the Festival of Lights, and created their own diva lamps, which we displayed proudly at the front of our assembly. The colourful, sparkling lamps made a beautiful display that brought everyone together at the end of the day.

The children thoroughly enjoyed learning about Hinduism and showed create curiosity, respect, and enthusiasm throughout the day.
